Privacy Policy
KnackTack keeps your content on your computer, not on our servers.
KnackTack processes your copied content locally on your computer. It does not send your spaces or their contents to us or to any KnackTack server.
KnackTack is a small tool that keeps things you copy in view for a while. Because it sees what you copy, we built it to know as little as possible and to share nothing. This page explains exactly what that means. KnackTack is developed and provided by WEN YUN NIU, who is responsible for this policy.
What stays on your computer
KnackTack saves the following on your computer only, in KnackTack's own storage area, so your spaces are still there after a restart:
- The content of your spaces: text, links and images you put in them, including spaces in Recently Deleted.
- Where each space came from: the app you copied from and, when the browser provides it, the web address. Tracking parameters are removed from that address when you copy.
- Your settings, and the size and position of each space.
None of this ever leaves your computer through KnackTack. You can remove it at any time by deleting your spaces and choosing Empty Recently Deleted. A space that isn't pinned clears itself 7 days after your last edit.
What KnackTack does not do
- No account. You never sign up or log in.
- No network. KnackTack itself makes no internet connections. It sends nothing to us or to anyone else.
- No analytics or tracking. No usage statistics, crash reporting, advertising or third-party analytics code. KnackTack doesn't keep usage logs, not even on your own computer.
- No keystroke recording. KnackTack doesn't record what you type.
- No passwords. When an app marks copied content as private or temporary (as password managers and private browser windows do), KnackTack doesn't put it in a space and doesn't read it. Apps you add to the exclusion list in Settings are skipped too.
- No file access. If you copy a file, KnackTack doesn't open it.
The Input Monitoring permission (Mac)
To notice when you press ⌘C twice, KnackTack asks macOS for the Input Monitoring permission. It uses this permission only to watch for ⌘C. It doesn't record keys, and it never changes or blocks them. If you switch to a keyboard shortcut in Settings, KnackTack stops listening to the keyboard and doesn't need this permission.
Keyboard and clipboard (Windows)
To notice when you press Ctrl+C twice, KnackTack watches for that key combination only. It doesn't record keys, and it never changes or blocks them. If you switch to a keyboard shortcut in Settings, KnackTack stops watching the keyboard.
Links and sharing
When you click a link in a space, or a link in KnackTack's Settings, it opens in your own browser, email app or app store. When you share a space, the service you choose (such as Mail or AirDrop) sends it. Those apps and services have their own privacy policies; KnackTack itself sends nothing.
Purchases
KnackTack Pro is sold through the Mac App Store and the Microsoft Store, which handle payment, receipts and refunds. We don't receive your name, email address or payment details, only the summary sales reports the store gives every developer. Your purchase is checked on your computer by the store's own system.
If you email us
If you write to support@knacktack.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to reply to you, we don't share it, and we don't add you to any mailing list. We process your email because you asked us to: to answer your request. Our email provider may store messages outside your country. We keep support emails for up to 12 months after the conversation ends, unless we need to keep them longer for legal reasons. Please don't send sensitive information unless it's needed. The Contact Support link in KnackTack only fills in our address and your KnackTack version; nothing else is attached.
This website
knacktack.com uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts or fonts. Like any website, our hosting provider may process technical data such as IP addresses and access logs to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. The provider may process this data outside Canada. We don't use it to identify or track you.
Children
KnackTack collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Security
Your spaces are protected by your computer's own security: your user account, its password and, on Mac, the macOS sandbox, which keeps KnackTack's storage separate from other apps. Because KnackTack sends nothing anywhere, there is no server copy to be breached. No system is perfectly secure, so please protect your computer and its user account.
Your rights
Because we hold almost no personal information, the rights to access, correct or delete personal information mostly apply to emails you've sent us. To use them, write to support@knacktack.com. We'll answer within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the privacy regulator where you live, for example:

Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and mention important changes in KnackTack's release notes. KnackTack has no accounts, so we can't notify users individually. We'll never change KnackTack to collect data without making it clear here first.
Governing law and language
This policy is governed by the laws of Canada and British Columbia, without limiting any privacy rights you have under the laws of the place you live. It's available in several languages, linked at the top of this page; you may rely on any of these versions.
